Council meeting can be held this week: PPM

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) reveals that a Council meeting will be held sometime this week. Council members of the Party have been petitioning the Party President to hold a meeting of the Council.

PPM Deputy Secretary General Abdul Aleem said if the required quorum is met for the Council meeting, then a meeting can be held even in this week. He said the meeting will be held after sending out notices and ensuring that the required quorum is met.

"We're now checking if the quorum is met, then we can hold the meeting even this week," he said.

President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom had previously said that a Council meeting will be held after Eid holidays and the suspended Council meetings are now being scheduled.

Aleem today also said the PG still had not sent the meeting minutes, agendas and other relevant documentation as requested by President. Even though PG leader Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik had said the annual reports will be sent, the reports have not been sent yet.

President Yameen had also called on the Party members to resolve the conflicts within the Party by discussions. It is expected that these issues will be at the forefront when the Council convenes.
