PPM PG Leader and Vilimale' Constituency MP Ahmed Nihan Hussain Manik has stated that the Party will review those MPs who had voted against the Defamation Bill.
Nihan made the statement after MPs Faris Maumoon, Mohamed Nasheed and Mohamed Musthafa voted against the Party's three line whip on yesterday's vote.
Speaking to Avas, Nihan said that the Party will investigate why the three MPs had voted against the Party whip line.
"To an extent we knew that Nasheed will be hesitant to vote on the bill as he had worked in media before. Then we were aware that Faris and Musthafa will vote against the bill. They had made their stand clear. But as per the regulations we have to question them and send the case to the Ethics Committee if needed," Nihan said.
Thirty-one MPs had voted against the bill. All JP MPs, except for Gemanafushi Constituency MP Ilham, had not voted for the bill. Additionally, Government coalition partner MDA MP Hussain Areef had also voted against the bill.
