National Team Keeper Imran Mohamed has announced his retirement from the squad after a career spanning 17 years.
In a Facebook post published, Imran announced his decision, stating that "it wasn’t easy for me to walk away from the national team, as one part of my heart is telling me to keep on playing while the other part supports my decision to end my career". He said he was "very confident about the talent of our young keepers" adding that he believed they can perform very well.
"I hope that I have contributed a bit to make my country proud in terms of football, but I leave this decision to all the supporters; the 12th player." he said.
Imran began his national career on February 15, 2000 against Malaysia. He ended his career after playing against Laos on October 11, 2016. In his long career Imran had played 111 matches.
Concluding his statement, Imran said he "will be always there for National team whenever they need support."
