No fees taken from PPM candidates: Mundhu

Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM) Council Member and the Maldivian Ambassador to Japan, Mohamed Hussain Shareef has denied that a fee was taken from any candidate contesting from the Party.

He made the statement in connection to a letter circulating in social media, which claims that a fee was taken from a candidate for the the last Council elections.

Mundhu said similar allegations were made against the Party's Deputy Leader Abdu Raheem Abdullah in 2014 but no fees were taken from any candidates. He said the all the campaign expenses for every candidate was borne by the Party.

"There is no proof of such an allegation. I was a member of that Committee. The Party did not take a fees from prospective candidates," Mundhu said. "Such rumors are spread to defame Abdhu Raheem. Then the candidates were under current Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer's administration,"
