Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has removed two more Council Members from their positions. The two members were removed from their positions by the Party's President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
PPM's Deputy Leader Abdhu Raheem Abdullah was also removed from his position and Council today as well. The other two members dismissed were Party Council Member Zahid Rameez and PPM Youth Council President Ibrahim Yoosuf.
The letter sent to Zahid said that of late, Zahid had been acting against the Party's charter. The letter said that the Zahid had also spoken unethically on various social media platforms; an action that does not befit a member appointed by the President.
Ibrahim Yoosuf was dismissed from his position as Youth Council member as he had turned 31 years old on 19th May. The Council is a group formed with members who are below the age of 31 years. The letter said he was no longer a member of the Council and he was not eligible to remain as a member. With his dismissal from the Youth Council, he had also lost his seat on the Party's Council.
PPM Council members were removed at a time when dissent had spread within Party ranks.
Abdhu Raheem, Zaid and Yoosuf is yet to issue a statement on their dismissal.
