Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Leader and former President Maumoon Abul Gayoom has sent a letter to coalition partner Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) Leader Ahmed Siyam Mohamed requesting for a meeting regarding the upcoming Local Council elections.
The letter said a date and time for the discussions will be soon announced.
The request for the meeting came at the time when the Elections Commission had said they will be following the rule of law and any directives issued by any Courts. While factions had split the ruling PPM, Civil Court had decreed that the Party must be run under the administration of Party Advisor and President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
