The deadline for candidatures for the upcoming Local Council Elections has been extended until the first of December.
Elections Commission member Mohamed Shakeel said the decision was taken due to the requests by the political parties for a deadline extension.
The previous deadline for candidatures was between October 15-27. Candidatures will be accepted from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on working days with it being between 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Fridays.
The elections will be held on January 14 next year.
