The Maldivian athletics team has begun preparations to reach the finals of the 22nd Asian Athletic Championship scheduled to be held in India next year.
The tournament will be held in the Birsa Munda Stadium, Ranchi.
The President of the Athletics association of Maldives, Mohamed Tholal told 'Avas' that the primary target is reaching further than Maldives has ever done in the past.
"We set the target to reach the final of the sprint event, and achieving a good result in the long run event," Tholal said.
He said that the entire team is focused on the tournament, and that the team sheets will be finalized and practice will begin early next year.
