Maldivian volley team head to Lanka for 20 day training camp

The Maldivian national volleyball team has traveled to take part in a 20 day training camp in nearby Sri Lanka in preparation of the Asian Central Zone Volleyball Tournament set to be held in Bangladesh next December.

While the team is set to depart Sunday afternoon, the coach of the team has not yet been made public.

The President of the Volleyball Association of Maldives, Mohamed Latheef has said that the coach will be revealed in a ceremony held before departure in the City Garden Restaurant.

"The coach for the national team will be a foreigner," Latheef said.

Latheef has previously stated that they considered appointing a local coach for the position.

The previous coach of the Sri Lankan national team Kumara Wendakoon is set to join up with the team as a trainer in Sri Lanka.

VAM has offered the position of Assistant Coach Maldives Recreation Club's coach Ibrahim Rasheed.

But due to Rasheed's refusal of the offer, two other coaches are going along with the team as assistant coaches.
