Maldives FA to appoint committee to oversee national team

Football Association of Maldives (FAM) President, Bassam Adeel Jaleel has stated that a committee is being formed to oversee the Maldives national football team, called the National Team Committee.

In an exclusive interview to 'Avas' Bassam said that the national team plans and training camps will also be organised by the committee.

"The committee will also include the coach and technical staff. Even the Association cannot interfere in the decisions of the Head Coach and this committee," Bassam said.

"We have a 95% assurance that the Darren Stewart will become the next Head Coach. The committee was also involved in appointing him as coach, and FAM Secretary General Hussein Jawaz has said that a final decision will be delivered within a week. This committee will also over see the younger teams along with the senior teams.

FAM Secretary General, Hussein Jawaz said that this committee will be finalized within the week.

This is the first time a committee is being developed for the national team. The FAM technical committee was previously responsible for overseeing the team.
