The contest attracted up to 111 competitors from several Asian countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Maldives, Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines.

Ali Khushruwan "Kuda Ayya," Aswan Mohamed, and Ali Javed claimed the top three spots in the bodyboarding division and proved that the Maldives have some of the best riders in the Asian continent.

All Maldivian athletes will also travel to Kuantan, in Malaysia, to participate in the Bodyboard Attack 2016, and international bodyboarding competition scheduled for December 17-18.

Internationally certified Maldivian judge Ahmed Rifaee will be judging in this competition. This is the first time a Maldivian is included on the judging panel of an event held in a foreign country.
