A veterinary clinic is set to be opened in Villimale offering a range of veterinary service to the pet owner community in the Maldives.
The Agriculture Ministry said the increase of pets such as cats and birds have led to a hike in diseases among the pets in the Maldives.
The ministry further said that sometimes the living conditions of these pets are unsuitable which leads to the spread of diseases.
"We felt the need to expand our veterinary services to teach pet owners how to take care of them of them the right way, and so we have decided to build a veterinary clinic to achieve these objectives," a statement by the Agriculture Ministry read.
The statement also said a bid has been opened on the land the Agriculture Ministry has on Villimale', and that the highest bidder would be awarded the project to build the clinic.
