Over 250 youth signed for ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) on Friday. The announcement of the new member was made at the launching of the First Lady's official re-campaign for President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom for the 2018 Presidential Elections.
The ruling PPM is the most dominant political party according to statistics released by the Elections Commission late last year, with a membership count of 37,633. PPM also saw 2,000 new members join the party towards the end of the year, after the statistics had been made public.
Many PPM supporters had arrived Friday night for the launching of Presient Yameen's campaign for 2018 under the initiative by the First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim.
