Prosecutors have charged the driver of the car that hit and killed a woman in the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale last year.
Fathimath Shiuna, 28 of Raa Atoll Rasgatheemu island died while being treated at the state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in capital Male.
The accident occurred when the speeding car driven by 22 year old Ahmed Maldan Ali crashed into a motorbike where Shiuna was the passenger.
The 35 year old man riding the bike had also suffered serious injuries but has since recovered.
If found guilty, Maldan faces up to four years in prison. The trial is set to commence on Wednesday.
