Maldives tourism targets S. Korean social media

The Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) has launched efforts to boost the marketing techniques currently employed in the Korean social media.

MMPRC said the effort jointly with a Maldivian PR company based in South Korea, would continue till the 15th of next month. MMPRC said that the marketing would peak on all platforms of the country's social media during the Lunar New Year.

The Corporation revealed that a special quiz would be launched regarding the Maldives, and that six lucky winners would be awarded an all expenses paid holiday to the Maldives. The winners get four days to spend in the Maldives, and would get to pick a resort of their choice.

South Korea is among the top 10 countries with the largest amount of visitors to the Maldives. A total of 29,580 tourists arrived from South Korea last year.

MMPRC has abandoned the 'traditional methods' of advertising the Maldives, and have adopted new techniques by strengthening their social media efforts and redesigning its website available in15 languages .
