Maldives issues travel warning over bad weather

Maldives authorities Thursday urged caution during sea travel due to continuous bad weather throughout the archipelago.

Maldives coast guard in a statement urged travelers to be wary of the bad weather expected to continue for the next few days especially in the central Atolls.

Coast guard also urged against travel unless necessary and reminded transport service providers to ensure the safety of passengers.

The statement also noted several marine incidents reported in the past two days, urging to fully equip vessels with the necessary safety measures before embarking on any voyages.

"In addition, the coast guard also urges divers and organizers of various sea based activities to be mindful of weather conditions," the statement read.
