Maldives FA chief in China to seek infrastructure aid

The President of the Football Association of Maldives, Bassam Adheel Jaleel is presently in China to secure aid for Maldivian football.

Bassam had left for China on Friday night, with the intention of improving the infrastructure of local football.

Spending MVR15 million every year to develop football across the islands of Maldives was one of Bassam's key pledges in his campaign.

"The highlights of the Chinese discussions will be securing aid for the development of football infrastructure across the Atolls. We are currently attempting to secure lighting systems and turf grass in this visit," Bassam told Avas before departing to China.

When asked whether aid would be sought on the technical side during this trip, Bassam said that the entire trips official agenda revolved around the physical development of football. He did note that the discussions could open future doorways to secure aid on the technical side.
