Ex-Maldives captain 'recovering' after heart attack

Former Maldivian National Football Team Captain Shah Ismail is now 'recovering' after suffering a minor a heart attack late Sunday night, his family said Tuesday.

He is currently being treated at the state run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) Urgent Care Center.

"We've been allowed to see him. He can talk a little now. The doctor has decided to keep him there for 72 more hours. The depth would be further observed after 72 hours, and I believe the doctor would release him if there are no further complications," Shah's brother, the Vice President of the Cricket Board, Maadhih Ismail said.

Shah, who is the current Deputy Minister of Fisheries, previously filled the role of Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports. He is also a member of the national sports council.

Shah has also filled the position of General Secretary of FAM.

He was the captain of the Maldivian team which reached the finals of the 2003 SAFF Championships.
