Ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Sunday submitted 11,000 new membership forms of the people who had recently joined the party to the Elections Commission.
PPM has recently intensified efforts to boost party membership and had attracted over 2,000 new members to the party in the past two months.
The party says with the new membership forms, the party's membership would now be close to nearly 70,000 members.
"So many people are joining our party on a daily basis. We're getting nearly 500 forms each day," PPM lawmaker Ibrahim Falah told Avas.
Falah revealed that his party's target is to reach 100,000 members by the end of the year.
