Police seek way to identify stolen mopads

Police on Sunday held discussions with the main motorbike suppliers in the country on ways to identify stolen motorbikes.

During the discussions, ideas such as placing a tracker on each motorbike before every sale was suggested, along with other safety measures such as ensuring that the vehicles are fully insured.

The General Investigations Department of the police took part in the discussions, along with senior officials of Alia Investments Pvt Ltd, Alia Construction Pvt Ltd, Brothers Motor Company Pvt Ltd, Litus Maldives Pvt Ltd and Lifan Maldives Pvt Ltd.

The theft of motorbikes and motorbike parts have become increasingly common in the Maldives.
