Maldives aims for gold in volley tournament

The Maldives National Volleyball Team aims for gold in the Central Zone Men's Volleyball Tournament, set to start in the Maldives on Tuesday.

After the training camp recently held in Thailand, the Maldivian Team has been training hard in preparation for the tournament. As the tournament is being held at home, the team is hopeful for a good result with the help of local support.

The Captain of the National Team, Ishan Mohamed said the tournament would present a good opportunity to strive for a gold medal and urged supporters to stand behind the team.

The team had faced challenging matches as part of the training camp in Thailand, with the entire team showing progress after the conclusion of the camp.

Talented national team veteran, Ahmed Abdul Kareem said that the entire team was confident ahead of the tournament as it would be played in the Maldives.

Kyrgyzstan, Nepal and Turkmenistan are the other nations which will be taking part in this tournament.

The first spot in the final will be given to the team with the most points, and the second place in the final will go the victor of the semifinal match which will be played between the second and third placed teams in the points tally.

Maldives and Kyrgyzstan will face off in the tournament opener on 4:00 PM Wednesday, with Nepal and Turkmenistan facing each other in the second match which will be played the next day.

The third match of the tournament will be played between Maldives and Nepal on Friday, with Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan playing the fourth match on Saturday. Maldives will be facing Turkmenistan on Sunday, and the final match of the group stage will be played between Nepal and Kyrgyzstan on Monday.
