Palestine arrives in Maldives for Asian Cup Qualifier

The Palestine National Football Team has arrived in the Maldives after finishing a 10 day training camp in Qatar in preparation for the Asian Cup Qualifying tie to be played between the Maldives and Palestine.

While in Qatar, Palestine had played a match against Yemen to gather further experience for the match against Maldives as Yemen had emerged victors over Maldives in their previous encounter in the Asian Cup Playoffs.

A goal scored in the final minutes of the match by Yashir Amando Pinto Islame secured the win for Palestine in the match against Yemen.

Maldives and Palestine have previously met on the field in 2014 when Maldives hosted Palestine for a group stage match of the AFC Challenge Cup. The match had ended in a goalless draw, however Palestine went on to win the tournament after beating Philippines in the finals.

The Palestinian Ambassador to the Maldives, Dr. Anwar Al Agha received the Palestinian team at the Velana International Airport.
