Bengaluru FC prepares ahead of Maziya clash

In the 3-0 defeat against Mohun Bagan in the Indian I-League on Saturday night, Bengaluru FC chose to rest key players ahead of the clash with Maldivian side Maziya in the AFC Cup tie scheduled for Tuesday.

Bengaluru coach, Albert Roca had opted to leave out key players on Saturday including Sunil Chhetri, Eugeneson Lyngdoh as well as Lenny Rodrigues.

The runner ups of the previous AFC Cup, Bengaluru FC has lost any chance of winning the league this season, winning only one out of their last 11 league encounters placing them fifth in league standings.

Roca had stated even before Saturday's match that his primary goal this season was winning the AFC Cup.

"I took a risk in bringing out a young team. We are focusing on the AFC Cup now, so we left this match in the hands of the younger players," Albert Roca, the previous assistant coach of FC Barcelona said.

Bengaluru FC had won against Mohun Bagan in the first match of this seasons AFC Cup 2-1 at home.

The Bengaluru FC team will arrive in Maldives Sunday night ahead of the AFC Cup tie with Maziya.
