Unix Sporting has revealed they will be holding a preview of the hot air balloon's flight on May 19, before the official fest on Eid.
Speaking to Avas, Unix Sporting’s managing director Reshan Shareef revealed that a teaser event for the hot air balloon festival will take place on May 19. He added saying that the hot air balloon festival is a much awaited event and expressed hope the teaser event will reassure locals that the hot air balloon festival will take place, regardless of the rescheduling.
Reshan stated that the balloon will take flight from Mal'e and land in the reclaimed suburb Hulhumale. He further added that the teaser event isnt open for participation.
The festival was initially planned to be hosted on May 19. However, it had to be delayed until the weather was most ideal.
Maldives' first hot air balloon festival will be held on Eid 2017.
Tickets for the balloon ride will be sold, starting May 7, at MVR700 with each balloon accommodating four passengers.
The balloons used for the festival, along with a group of experts in flying the balloon, will be flying in from abroad for the festival.
Other stalls will also be held at the area of the festival. Three balloons will take flight during the event.
The balloons will be held in place and will be lit up during the night.
Hot air balloons are flown in nations around the globe and remains a popular attraction for tourists.
