Jailed minister's brother appeals remand

Jailed former defence minister Rtd. Colonel Mohamed Nazim’s younger brother Adam Azim has appealed the extension of his remand at the High Court.

Azim, who has been adamantly calling for his brother’s release since he was jailed, was arrested on Thursday under a court order. Court extended his remand after the arrest.

According to the arrest warrant, Azim was taken in to custody for making statements about overthrowing the government and defaming the judiciary.

Late in May, Nazim was granted temporary house arrest for the month of Ramadan.
