MRDC declares completion of most roadwork by year end

Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) on Sunday, declared that road development in nine islands is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

MRDC is carrying out road development projects in a total of 11 islands.

At a press conference held at MRDC, the corporation’s project head Mohamed Shareef said that the project was of utmost priority.

Shareef revealed that the projects expected to be completed first are the roads of Kulhudhufushi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll and Dhidhdhoo in Haa Alif Atoll, which are expected to finish by late August.

He also highlighted that new road development projects have commenced in four other islands, and are currently ongoing in seven islands, with a total 126 roads in 11 islands that measure 38 kilometres altogether.

MRDC is also developing futsal fields in 67 islands which are expected to be completed in November this year. The corporation is also constructing jetties in seven islands.
