Forensic Officers testify against Jumhooree Party leader

Two officers of the Maldives Police Service forensic unit has testified against Villa Group honcho and Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim over his alleged case of bribing.

Qasim's lawyers had confirmed the officers were summoned to the discreet hearing at Criminal Court on Wednesday in order to testify regarding a video clip presented by the plaintiff as evidence.

No details of the exact nature of the officers' testimony had been disclosed since the hearing proceeded barring media and public entrance.

Post the hearing, lawyers confirmed another hearing of the case scheduled for next week.

The Villa group head is being tried for presenting graft money to several lawmakers to buy fealty regarding the no-confidence motion against Peoples' Majlis speaker Abdulla Maseeh.
