MP Arif apologizes over use of profanity in Majlis premises

Kelaa constituency lawmaker Ali Arif, has publicly apologized over his conduct at Majlis proceedings on Wednesday - where heated exchanges between pro-government and opposition parliamentarians - led to use of gross profanity in the chamber.

A live video by Addu-Meedhoo constituency member Rozaina Adam had gone viral on Wednesday that showed the Kelaa MP directing heavy criticism with several slurs and curses aimed at Gan constituency lawmaker Fayyaz Ismail - who's an opposition allied member.

Arif's justification about the heated altercation between the parliamentarians was an act in the heat of the moment when opposition lawmakers had continuously disdained his requests.

He had further protected the interest of pro-government lawmakers stating if opposition targeted any of their members, verbally or physically there will be repercussions over it.
