Court releases lawmaker Ahmed Mahloof

South-Galolhu constituency lawmaker Ahmed Mahloof who was arrested recently while he was giving an interview to Raajje TV during Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim's trial that proceeded at Criminal Court - in his absence - has been released.

The opposition allied lawmaker was released by court when he was summoned by Police Service to table date for his remand period - court let him go on unconditioned basis.

The parliamentarian was arrested under allegations of intervening the attempt of Police conduct as well as apparent interruption to judicial conduct.

While court had released Ahmed Mahloof bearing him without any conditions, Maldives Police Service has requested to deliver a remand period of 15 days to the lawmaker. However he was released since the arrest breached the criminal act.
