Home Minister Ahmed Azleen has met with Jumhooree Party leader and Villa Group head Qasim Ibrahim. The business magnate and politician is currently admitted at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) - while he was recently sentenced to a jail term of 3 years 2 months and 12 days.
The Jumhooree Party leader was charged with bribing lawmakers regarding the no confidence motion filed against parliament speaker Abdullah Maseeh, of which he was found guilty at Criminal Court.
Home Minister's visit to IGMH to see the ailing leader was confirmed by a high ranking official of Jumhooree Party. Minister Azleen visited Qasim Ibrahim alone.
While Home Minister is visiting Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim, the admitted politician's medical attention arrangement to abroad has been urged at Commissioner of Prisons. Home Minister had ordered all relevant authorities to oversee and properly handling necessary arrangements required for the swift transition of Qasim Ibrahim abroad.
The consulting doctor of ailing Jumhooree Party leader had strongly suggested for a quick travel abroad to seek required medical attention and tests - procedures which cannot be executed in any Maldivian medical institute - emphasizing that any hindrance could cost the Villa Chairman, his life.
