MRDC staffs gift one day salary to Rohingya relief fund

Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC) staffs have gifted the total from their one day's salary to Rohingya relief initiative led by the government.

MRDC confirms apart from gifting the total of one day salary of the entire staff roll of the corporation, several activities are planned to extend aid and assistance towards the relief of Rohingya Muslims who have been long time victim of genocides and killings fueled by the Burmese state.

Government has assembled a special committee in order to execute specific events and activities to further help the cause to provide relief and aid to the Rohingya at Myanmar's Rakhine state.

The Coordination Committee formed by the government is led by Defense Minister Adam Shareef with the second-in-charge being Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Ziyad with high ranking officials of Home Ministry, Gender Ministry and Disaster Management included in the committee. The committee also includes a senior ranking officer of the government media PSM.

To further bolster Maldivian stand regarding the Rohingya conflict at Myanmar, state had earlier cut corporate ties with the Burmese government.
