The conflict laden list of apartment complex winner list - bearing detail of only the form number - under government initiative in provision of shelter, has entered Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Information Officer of the counter corruption entity, Hassan Manik has confirmed the issue has been lodged at the commission. However it is unclear if the commission has commenced probing on the issue.
Government's project of providing housing to citizens were selected from Male' category one and category two, under the former 500 applicants were selected successful to receive abode while 161 were selected fitting the criteria from category two, summing up a total of 661 apartment winners.
Housing Ministry's move of disclosing only the form number has attracted harsh criticism from various individuals, ranging from commoners to politicians.
Some allege the involvement of corrupt dealings and favoring specific individuals during the selection process.
This was countered by Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu who affirmed the decision to keep personal details discreet was to protect the rights and prevent unnecessary backlash from applicants.
The Ministry had also announced to present written complaints regarding the winners' list before Sunday of coming week. After evaluating all the presented complaints and addressing to them a final winners' list will be produced following it.
