A Maldivian has been apprehended from Dubai, United Arab Emirates in possession of significant amounts of illicit narcotics.
Authorities confirm that the individual captured was a local aged 40 years.
Maldivian Police Service confirms the individual was apprehended through a joint anti-narcotics operation in collaboration with Dubai's local police.
A Dubai police media officer confirmed the Maldivian citizen was captured at the site of crime as he was attempting to fly the narcotics as contraband into Maldives.
Dubai's police are currently investigating the offense further.
Local police has stated the joint operations in collaboration with Dubai along with several neighboring countries are executed to counter narcotics and members involving in such crime rings.
