Several individuals along with prominent politicians have signed on a petition urging to reveal the proper details of the apartment winners under the government initiated abode program.
A total of 661 winners were shortlisted under the program, whose form number was the only detail reflected on the lists publicized by Housing Ministry.
The petition, an opposition fueled effort in order to present inquiry demanding the proper details of the apartment winners to relevant government bodies has seen many of the opposing lawmakers and several others signing on the document.
The signing took place at Maafannu Kunoozu as well as in other rally camps of Maldives Democratic Party (MDP).
The case of announcing the apartment winners only through their form numbers - the application form - has fallen into heavy scrutiny by the media as well as public and political criticism. Meanwhile the case has moved to Anti-Corruption Commission for probing as well.
Several members of the Male' City Council and lawmakers from the opposition had attempted to meet the Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to discuss about the case.
