Gang conflict had resulted in the stabbing of two individuals on Saturday night.
While one of the victims is under medical attention the other succumbed to his wounds and was reported dead.
Maldives Police Service confirms they received reports of stabbing on Saturday night around 23:22hrs in Maafannu district. Officers had cordoned off the crime scene for inspection.
The gang affiliated stabbing comes weeks after any stabbing incidents have been reported.
Several cases of stabbing and murder were reported during the month of July and August. Earlier back in July a youth was stabbed to death while he was inside a restaurant in Henveiru district. Days later another victim was found in Mohamed Anas, a boat captain from Raa Atoll Meedhoo.
The victim was stabbed multiple times before he was transported to ADK Hospital. He passed away amid medical treatment.
Saturday night's stabbing resulted due to strong altercation between two rivaling gangs in the capital.
