Three arrested over Saturday night's stabbing

Authorities have confirmed the apprehension of three suspects tied to the brutal stabbing on Saturday night; however they had not disclosed further information due to ongoing status of the case.

Maldives Police Service had inspected a residence following the incident, however it is not confirmed whether the individuals were arrested from the residence in question. Two rivaling gangs struck each other around 23:22hrs near 'Dhun'buri' Mosque at Maafannu district of the capital.

Two individuals were injured during the violent altercation - while one of the injured is being treated at hospital the other who was more seriously wounded has already been reported dead.

Saturday night's incident comes after a brief hiatus of serious killings across Male' during late June and July.

Back in July a youth was stab to death while he was at a restaurant while another fell prey to stabbing inside Litus Service Center days later.

Earlier this year, back in April famous blogger who ran "The Daily Panic" was discovered with multiple stab wounds in a pool of blood at the stairwell of his residence.

With several murder cases unresolved or stalled for months have led to citizens and members of the opposition criticizing the prime policing unit's responsibility.
