Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort; first ever resort in Maldives with an airport

The hospitality outlet enacted at Kooddoo Airport, titled "Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort" was opened on Monday.

The resort was officially opened by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom with fireworks activities following the grand opening.

Speaking at the opening ceremony Kooddoo Airport's Chief Executive Officer and the Chairman of Hotel and Resorts Construction - which is partnered with Singapore's Pristine Islands Investment - Mohamed Ali Janah asserted that the Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort is the first ever water villa resort built on an airport island in Maldives.

The resort comprises of 43 water villas along with 25 beach villas out of which 20 of them comes with a private pool attached to them. Food and beverages in an international standard will be catered through three outlets while several sports and recreational activities are facilitated in the resort, including diving, water sports and a spa.

Monday night's grand opening ceremony was attended by the President as chief guest while the Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer, Chief of Defense Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam along with the Singapore's Ambassador to Maldives.

In addition to this several high ranking officials from Pristine Islands Investment, Hotel and Resort Construction and Accor Hotels attended the event as well.

Mercure is the French based "Accor Hotels" newest installment. The French tourism outlet hub aims their services primarily to budget travelers. Accor Hotels boasts a total of 700 resort and hotel outlets in 58 different nations across the globe.
