Terminal Cafe' victim's death over gang rivalry; Police

Maldives Police Service has confirmed the death of Nadheem Abdul Rahman, Ibrahimi Hiyaa, Haa Alif Takandhoo - who was stabbed to death while he was at Terminal Cafe' at Henveiru district on July 27 - was an act of revenge over the rivalry of two gangs.

Major Crime Department's Police Chief Station Inspector Mohamed Samih said that on the day of incident around 18:08hrs a group of individuals rode up to Terminal Cafe' bearing sharp implements. The assailants struck the victim while he was at the cafe' with his acquaintances.

Samih also detailed that while the attackers had used kitchen knives to attack Nadheem, one of the knives used to stab him was stuck near his left ear - penetrated into his head - which was removed by one of his friends.

Based on several video footage and information collected over the investigation, Police concludes the series of stabbings that sparked back during July resulted over two of the rival gangs going toe to toe with one another. Adding that Nadheem's murder was an act of revenge over the gang clashes.

Police confirms a total 60 hours of video footage was collected regarding the incident. Station Inspector Samih said that although the assailants had their faces covered, their identities were revealed during the run-time of the footage.
