Parliament to resume on Monday

Local parliament "People's Majilis" will resume after its recess on Monday morning.

Monday's parliament session has one item on its agenda so far, which is dictating the report by general committee over the research made on the suggested amendment to parliament constitution's article number 207.

The bill was presented for deliberation by the parliament speaker Abdullah Maseeh.

Article number 207 cites on establishing diplomatic relationships with international organizations and NGOs as well as parliaments of foreign countries.

While parliament will resume on Monday the second term of session did not proceed smoothly due to the constant intervention and protesting of opposition. Opposition's continued protests led to a stronger security measure implemented with MNDF officials taking command of security details of the premises.

Days later opposition had alleged the seat of parliament speaker was getting elevated to 10 feet. While vice speaker of parliament "Reeko" Moosa Manik, had confirmed some renovation works were underway, he denied the allegations of opposition.

Meanwhile opposition had claimed that even though speaker's seat may get elevated their continued protests will not wane.
