One of the primary suspects of the gruesome murder of one Mohamed Anas, Fenfiyaazuge, Raa Atoll Meedhoo, was arrested on Sunday afternoon through a special operation conducted by Maldives Police Service.
Police media official confirmed that the arrest of Afrah Abdul Razzaq, Maafannu Lonumidhilige was carried out on Sunday near the vicinity of Jalaluddin Mosque in Machhangolhi district. Razzaq is believed to be a primary suspect directly involved in the brutal murder of Anas, who was stabbed multiple times at Litus Service Center.
The other primary suspect attached to the case apart from Razzaq was Mohamed Shaaz, Gulfaamuge, Thaa Atoll Kin'bidhoo.
According to police they had completed 99% of the investigation phase of the case with it entering the final phase.
Police made arrests on September 2017 from Maafannu Dhimisgu, in an operation carried to apprehend the culprits involved in the murder of captain Anas. Police arrested two local youths, a 23 year old male and a minor.
Similarly police raided Maafannu Asaree Hiyaa on September 6, and made a total of 12 arrests who included minors as well. Police had confirmed the arrested individuals included culprits who were directly involved in the assault on Anas.
Anas was brutally stabbed by a group of masked assailants while he was in Male' during a trip from his island. His family claims that Anas was not affiliated to any gang.
