Raajje TV requests order to stall fine settlement

Raajje TV administration has requested from Civil Court to release order to postpone the channel's subjected fine settlement.

The station was fined with MVR 500,000.

The channel confirms they have requested for a temporary halt on settling the fined amount until the court procedures of the case becomes due.

Raajje TV was fined for airing a live talk show which had parliamentary lawmaker of Thimarafushi constituency, Mohamed Musthafa who called out to the public for the ousting of incumbent president Abdulla Yameen on July 28.

This marks the third such incident where the channel was fined by the state.

The channel was first fined with MVR 250,000 which was settled as well as a second fine incurred at MVR 1,000,000. Raajje TV took the cases to court following the settlement.
