President Yameen leaves for UAE with dignitary delegate

President of Maldives Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim has departed on an official trip to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The president's couple was accompanied by three of the state's ministers as well.

According to President Office's Spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali, President Yameen is visiting UAE on an invitation from their President Khalifa bin Zayeh al Nahyan.

Maldives and UAE are set to sign on four official agreements during the meeting of leaders. The agreements include investment protection, visa agreement along with an agreement to cease double taxation as well as the Velana International Airport development agreement.

The high profile delegate who are traveling with President Abdulla Yameen and First Lady includes Foreign Minister Dr. Mohamed Asim, Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed and Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim.
