Maldives Customs has confiscated large numbers of party drugs en route Addu via post.
According to Maldives Customs the parcel which was received at Maldives Post's Addu branch was inspected in the presence of recipient along with Customs Addu branch officials. The parcel reached from Netherlands.
Preliminary tests had indicated the pills have been positively identified as the narcotic drug 'Ecstasy' while a total of 503.5 pills were enclosed in the wrappers. The items confiscated weigh 244.60 grams.
Both the parcel and its recipient were handed over to Maldives Police Service for probing.
Meanwhile recently two local youths had died from overdosing on party narcotics.
