Court trial of slain boat captain to commence on Mon

Hearing over the murder case of Raa atoll Meedhoo boat captain Mohamed Anas' was set to commence on Monday.

Anas who frequented the capital city of Male' carrying travelers from atoll was brutally stabbed multiple times on several places of his body while he was at Litus Service Center.

The court trial at Criminal Court over the death of Anas was tabled at 15:00hrs on Monday. Monday's trial session will consist of the initial hearing about the case and its origin under the Criminal Procedure Act.

Prosecutor General has tried five suspects with the murder of Anas, that are Usman Shareef, M. Dhimisgu, Ahmed Zayan, Lhaviyani Kurendhoo, Hassan Mahfooz, Western Villa, S. Feydhoo, Junaih Abdullah, Nannaarige, L. Gan and Simah Moosa, Dhaftaru No: 1746.

Both Shareef and Zayan are alleged for first degree murder with the aid of sharp implements while the remainder are tried for abetting murder by sharp implements.

Additionally a minor who was involved in the murder of Anas followed through probe procedure and his case has been presented to Juvenile Court for prosecution. The minor is tried with the crime of committing first degree murder.

Mohamed Anas who was well loved and respected by the citizens of Meedhoo and the atoll was brutally slain on the month of July while he was in Male' between trips. According to his family, Anas had no gang affiliations.
