2018 state budget to parliament floor by November

Finance Minister Ahmed Munavvar has confirmed the estimated state budget's statement for the year 2018 will be presented to parliament on October 31.

Finance Minister Munavvar has confirmed to Avas Online the budget finalizing works are underway.

However he noted the details of budget will be disclosed at a later date, while the supplementary budget works are near completion although presenting date to parliament is not finalized.

Meanwhile pro-government lawmakers have maintained claims the supplementary budget statement will be presented to parliament by next week.

Current year's total budget is MVR 26.8 billion and an income of MVR 21.9 billion to state was estimated. This included MVR 14.1 billion collected through various taxes incurred while another MVR 4.8 billion was estimated to receive through non-tax fees and charges, which included MVR 878 million as grants. Another MVR 2 billion was projected to receive through various initiatives taken to increase wealth.

Current year's budget was estimated at a deficit of MVR 303.7 million.
