Faris Maumoon's trial on Sunday

The trial of Dhiggaru constituency lawmaker Ahmed Faris Maumoon who is being tried for impersonation - state pressed charges - is set for a hearing tomorrow.

The son of former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has recently been transferred to house arrest due to renovations at the jail where he was being kept.

The hearing is tabled for 11:30hrs in the morning where the defendant's justification will follow after the preliminary hearing.

The charges of impersonation is alleged to Maumoon for the apparent use of logo and flags of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) without the party's consent.

Apart from this the lawmaker is charged with bribery allegations as well.
