Adaalath Party leader transferred back to jail

Adaalath Party leader Sheikh Imran Abdulla will be transferred back to jail after a month's remand under house arrest. The news was confirmed by his political party's administration as well.

Sheikh Abdulla who is tried with terrorism charges, inciting and provoking violence during the infamous Mayday rally was transferred to house arrest when he became father to his youngest. His wife, Mariyam Reema gave birth on September 22.

The Adaalath Party's leader who was found guilty of terrorism has been sentenced to 12 years in jail.

Previously he was transferred to house arrest during the month of Ramadan along with jailed colleague; former Defense Minister Col. Mohamed Nazim.

Meanwhile Dhiggaru constituency lawmaker Ahmed Faris Maumoon has been shifted to house arrest as well. He was transferred over renovation works in the jail.

The alleged lawmaker for possible impersonation and misuse of Progressive Party of Maldives' property awaits a trial hearing scheduled for Sunday.
