Supplementary budget on Tuesday

The supplementary budget for the current year by the state is set to reach parliament floor on coming Tuesday for deliberation.

Pro-government members had reiterated a supplementary budget will be presented to parliament for discussion and approval but the dates were unspecified earlier. Furthermore the figures or any other details of the budget had not been disclosed in any manner so far.

The local parliament - Peoples' Majilis - had announced the agenda for Tuesday's session will include the Speaker presenting supplementary budget for deliberation along with dictating the report compiled by parliament's finance committee over Auditor General's report on next year's budget. In addition to this the initial reading of the media commission bill is tabled for Tuesday's session as well.

State government had concluded a budget of MVR 26.7 billion for the year 2017. This marks the first ever time the current government is presenting a supplementary budget.
