Soneva sets to open two new concept resorts

Soneva group head Sonu Shivdasani has affirmed plans on opening two new resorts based to fresh concepts are underway.

The hotelier and resort group had recently opened "Soneva Jani" attracting visitors and praise of tourism fanatics.

Shivdasani broke the news while giving an exclusive interview for "ISLES" the Avas and New York Times collaborative international magazine, as he said "resorts would be created to new concepts."

The hotelier magnate had not disclosed further details of it.

He stressed on the importance of creating new conceptual resorts in order to draw attention and attract bigger markets to the local tourism. Shivdasani also addressed on how this would help to promote Maldives as a destination.

Apart from this he also noted on the advantage and ease in marketing resorts and hotels designed for new concepts under a competitive market.

Indian born Shivdasani and wife Eva Shivdasani first graced the Maldives 20 years ago to open their first venture, Sonevafushi at Baa atoll. The carried slogan of "no news, no shoes" for the resort picked up popularity across the globe attracting larger markets. The resort is also marked as the first Maldivian resort to have sold residence villas.

Following the success of Sonevafushi, the business tycoon opened Soneva Journey at Noonu atoll Medhufaru, which had gone on to become a global phenomenon. The island provides just an exclusive 25 villa lodging while it also houses the first ever silent cinema in Maldives.
