Tuesday's trial hearing of Dhiggaru constituency lawmaker Ahmed Faris Maumoon's case filed by Prosecutor General has been postponed.
The hearing is one of the many pre-trial hearings under the new criminal procedure act which mandates the details heard prior to the trial.
Upon judge Ali Adam's go ahead to commence the hearing, Faris Maumoon had requested from the court to dismiss the hearing for today citing that a state document over the case presented to his advocates were not aptly discussed with.
Maumoon's request was confirmed for any objection from plaintiff to which the state representative lawyer Aishath Mohamed had stated they carried no objection to it.
Next hearing of the case has already been tabled for November 13.
The son of former president of Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, has been alleged of bribery during the no-confidence motion against parliament Speaker Abdulla Maseeh. Ahmed Faris Maumoon has been alleged to have conspired with several other lawmakers to curry favor to the opposition's cause of removing Maseeh from his designation.
The lawmaker is also been tried for identity theft and misuse of Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) belongings.
